Rescue the Perishing, Care for the Dying

This week Pastor Glen gave us a powerful word about those who may die without knowing Christ. His message tells us why it’s important to try to save those who may be lost.

Bible Verses This Week:

Hebrews 9:27
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Proverbs 24:11
11 Rescue those who are being taken away to death,
And those who are staggering to the slaughter, Oh hold them back!

Revelation 21:7-8
The one who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and sexually immoral persons, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

The Road To Salvation: The Roman Road

The Problem:

  • Romans 3:10
    10 as it is written: “There is no righteous person, not even one;

  • Romans 3:23
    23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

  • Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Hope:

  • Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Sinner’s Response:

  • Romans 10:9-13
that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

  • John 3:16-17
    16
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

Result:

  • Romans 5:1-2 Results of Justification

5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we also have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and [b]we celebrate in hope of the glory of God.

  • Romans 8:1 Deliverance from Bondage

Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus.
