Happy New You – Week 1: You Can Get From Here To There.

As we step into 2025, Pastor Tom Golden encouraged us to move beyond simply wishing others a “Happy New Year” and consider what it means to become a “Happy New You.” Drawing from verses like Ecclesiastes 3:12, Philippians 4:4, and James 1:2-4, Pastor Tom reminded us that true happiness isn’t just a fleeting feeling—it’s a reflection of the joy rooted in our confidence that God will care for us in every situation. Happiness is a choice we make daily, even when life throws unexpected challenges our way.

Using personal stories, like his beach experiences and a moving recount of David and Absalom in 2 Samuel 15-19, Pastor Tom illustrated that happiness often requires navigating difficult roads. King David’s journey exemplifies how even in the midst of heartbreak and loss, we can turn to God for joy and restoration.

Pastor Tom highlighted how resolutions often fail because we try to rely on our own strength. Instead, he challenged us to let God choose our path, to lean into His guidance, and to stop striving to create happiness on our own. It’s not about arriving at a perfect destination but traveling life’s journey with Jesus at the center.

As you begin this new year, ask yourself: What steps can you take to align your choices with God’s plan? What would your life look like if you allowed Him to do the heavy lifting? Embrace the joy and peace that comes from trusting God fully and let this year be the start of a transformative journey to becoming a “Happy New You.”

James 1:2-4
Testing of Your Faith
2 Count it all joy, my brothers,[a] when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Philippians 4:4
Final Exhortations
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
