Plus Jesus Equals Peace

There’s never been a time in history when the world was completely at peace—not even now. While the world defines peace as the absence of conflict, Pastor Tracey reminded us that true peace isn’t found in the quiet—but in a Person.
Real peace comes when you add Jesus into the equation. Whether it’s trauma, chaos, or failure—Jesus + anything = peace.
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” (John 14:27). If the world gives you peace, it can take it away. But Jesus offers something lasting, steady, and unshakeable.
Using the story of Peter’s denial, we were challenged to consider: when pressure hits, will we fall away from peace? Peter thought defending Jesus with violence was loyalty—but when things didn’t go as he expected, he fell back in fear. Peace doesn’t come from our performance, it comes from keeping our hearts focused on what Jesus said: “Take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Pastor Tracey shared a personal story about a tiny key and a moment of spiraling anxiety—until she turned on the light and found what she thought was lost. Sometimes, the answer is already there; we just need the light of Jesus to see it.
She also reminded us of what it means for a sheep to be “cast”—stuck upside-down, helpless. But the Good Shepherd notices. He lifts us, restores us, and stands with us until we’re strong again.
We ended with the powerful testimony of Horatio Spafford, who wrote “It Is Well with My Soul” after deep loss. That’s the kind of peace Jesus gives—not the absence of trouble, but the presence of a Savior in the middle of it.
Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Luke 22:54–62 – Peter Denies Jesus
Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house, and Peter was following at a distance. And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.
Psalm 23:3
He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 42:11
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.
