I AM | Wk 4 | Audio Only

This week, Pastor Tom walked us through the fifth “I Am” statement of Jesus in John 11:25: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” Jesus spoke these words to Martha before raising Lazarus from the dead, asking her directly—and us by extension—“Do you believe this?”

The story shows both the humanity and the divinity of Jesus. When Martha first met Him, she questioned why He had not come sooner: “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” She didn’t understand His timing, but His delay was intentional so that the glory of God could be revealed. Martha went to Mary, who fell at Jesus’ feet in tears, and in that moment Scripture records the shortest but most powerful verse: “Jesus wept.” His compassion moved Him to act.

Jesus commanded the stone to be rolled away and called Lazarus back to life—an action so undeniable that it stirred faith in some and deep anger in the Pharisees. What began with Lazarus being described simply as “a certain man” ended with his name remembered because of what Jesus had done.

Through this moment, Jesus revealed that faith is not about lineage or heritage, but belief in Him. The resurrection is not just an event—it is a person. And that person, Jesus, is alive today to bring life, hope, and resurrection power into our lives.
