One-Sentence Sermon: I am God’s creation set in motion on a winning mission.
Before you can live on mission, you need to know who you are. You are not an accident. You are God’s creation—fearfully, wonderfully made—and He doesn’t make junk. You were created on purpose, with purpose, and for a mission only you can carry out.
In Matthew 28:18–19, Jesus tells us to go and make disciples. But before He sends us, He reminds us: He has all authority and power. That same power lives in us and goes with us. Whether you’re at the starting line or deep into your journey, your mission is already in motion—even if you don’t know which part you’re in.
Pastor Tom shared his own calling story—praying at the altar as a teenager, uncertain but willing. God told him, “You’ll never be happier than you will working in ministry.” He had no roadmap, no experience—just faith. Years later, what started with 49 people has grown to three services and over 600 people worshiping together on Easter Sunday. God doesn’t need your perfection—He needs your “yes.”
We also heard from Nick Koumarianos during Five Minutes of Fire. Nick grew up in church but walked away from God’s rules. After years of military service, deep loss, and addiction, he found himself at River Life. The message stirred something in him. That day, he traded selfishness for a servant’s heart. His mission had begun again.
God has a plan for you—not to harm you, but to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). So run your race like you’re going to win. When the days feel like nightmares, remember: Jesus is alive—and He can raise even the dead places in your life.
You are on a mission. Set your eyes on Jesus, and keep running.
Matthew 28:18–19
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
