2 John 1:8 urges us not to lose sight of what we’ve worked so hard for—so that we can receive our full reward. It’s easy to forget the cost of our journey when we’re tired or discouraged, but staying focused is part of finishing strong.

We looked at Peter’s story—from hearing about the Messiah through his brother Andrew, to witnessing miracles like the healing of his mother-in-law, to experiencing the overwhelming catch of fish when he obeyed Jesus. It wasn’t until that moment, when Jesus met him in his everyday work, that Peter truly realized who Jesus was. God speaks our language and knows how to reach us in ways that are personal and powerful.

Just like Peter, we’re reminded to expect hope. Jesus always offers it—so get used to smiling when you put your faith in Him.

Pastor Tom also shared the story of SSG Roy P. Benavidez, who—despite being wounded over 30 times—kept going to save others. That kind of grit and mission-mindedness reflects the heart of the Gospel. Even if you feel like you’re in the middle of chaos, you can still lean in a little closer to Jesus.

We also touched on the life of Michael Jordan, who took a break from basketball due to exhaustion but eventually returned to the game he was made for—stronger than ever. It’s a reminder that even when you step away for a season, God can still bring you back to your mission, and often with greater strength and clarity.

No matter where you are today, don’t give up. Stay diligent. Lean in. And let God use your life to accomplish something meaningful.
